I always dreamed of having my very own classroom. The feeling of coming into a room and knowing that it would be just perfect for my first class was such an exciting feeling. I was hired as a 1st grade teacher two weeks before school started. I was given the keys and was introduced to my very own portable and I soon realized I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I thought "Oh, two weeks! Psht, I can make this happen in two weeks!" Wrong. So very wrong. I had mini-melt downs throughout those two weeks. I couldn't believe how much work it was to rearrange, reorganize, assemble and decorate a classroom. I was there before the sun came up and stayed until my arms couldn't handle the stapling anymore. I managed to get the bulletin board paper on every square inch of my classroom, doing my best to mask the beige walls underneath. I made sure each border was perfectly lined up and stapled to perfection. I spent hours buying bulletin boards kits and punching out stencils. I had a couple of days left before school started and I realized I had spent the majority of my time decorating when I should have been planning, learning new programs, collaborating etc.
Needless to say, I knew the long hours I had put in to my classroom decor needed to be addressed. I thought to myself, "I wonder if a company has pre-made bulletin boards?" I did some research. NADA. There was nothing to be found. There were some great posters, bulletin board decorating kits, small stuff. It was then that I realized I might be on to something. I'm on a mission to make teacher's lives easier. With Liv and Learn™ Ready-to-Roll bulletin boards, I think I'm on the right path.
